The relatively big casing of the XBox contains a powerful computer with a large hard drive, good graphics and a DVD drive. Game standings can easily be saved onto the hard drive, also music from Audio CDs, which is concentrated and converted to Windows Media Format to save space. The picture quality is good, best graphic resolution is achieved on a PAL formatted television, however. The supported Dolby Digital Sound (5.1) enables surround sound when you have the right speakers in the right place. To enjoy 3D sound, you have to get a separate kit because unfortunately, the digital output is not included. To play video DVDs, you will need a Playback Kit, and despite that, you cannot play VCDs nor SVCDs. The fan and hard drive sound are relatively loud and can disturb the user. A big success for XBox was the science fiction game, Halo, which had impressive graphics and great sound.
