Exposure time

The Exposure Time is next to the aperture the most important value in photography. It denotes the time span, for which the sensor of a digital camera (or previously film) is exposed to light. It defines, along with the aperture, the amount of light which falls on the medium.

Shutter Speed

During the shutter speed light falls through the opening of the shutter onto the film of an analog camera or CCD-sensor of a digital camera. Moving images require short shutter speeds (with good motif-lighting), long shutter speeds are ideal for static images.
