Resolution

The resolution states the amount of single pixels of a digital image. The higher the resolution, the more details can be seen and the sharper the image seems. The resolving capacity of a digital camera essentially measured by the maximum possible printing size of the image, altough it can also take effect on the quality of the image. In reference to the resolution of affordable compact cameras manufactures use the terms "high"", "Superfine" or "standard" quite lightly, which often just relate to the strength of compression, not on the actual pixels in the image.
