Focal Length
The focal length of a lens defines the size of an image selection. The larger the focal length, the colors the image seems in a decreasing image section. Often the minimal and maximal focal length is given in millimeters.
Wideangle- and Tele Focal Length
While the "common focal length" of about 50 mm provides approximately the image impression of the human eye, a focal length of over 75 mm is also known as tele focal length and makes the motifs appear closer. Everything below 35 mm is said to be wide angle focal length and shows a big image section, in which the motif appears rather small.
