Standard Definition

Standard Definition is a video-resolution with a maximum of 480 visible lines. "High Definition" consists mainly of up to 1080 lines and offers therefore a sharper and crisper image.

HDTV (HD-Ready/Full HD)

"High Definition Television" states those tv-standards which stand for high definition tv. In contrast to the classic PAL-TV (for Europe), where the maximum resolution lies at only 768x576 pixel, full HDTV offers a whole of 1920x1080 pixels. The image sharpness is also increased by 2,2 - up to 5 times the quality.

Full HD

Full HD stands for "fully resolutioned". This states in respect to TV devices, gaming consoles, dvd-players, set-top-speakers and so forth the availability of playing back the highest possible HD-resolution. Full HD appears to be the newest line standard: Compared to HDV and AVCHD Full-HD-camcorder can show up to 1080 lines with full frames (1920x1080), which sum up to approximately two million pixels.
